Apply For a Canada eTA
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an essential travel document for foreign nationals from visa-exempt countries flying to Canada. Linked electronically to your passport, the eTA offers a secure and convenient way to enter Canada without a traditional visa.
Valid for up to 5 years—or until your passport expires—the eTA permits short visits of up to 6 months for tourism, business, or transit purposes.
This digital system streamlines the entry process while maintaining high security standards, allowing faster and easier access to Canada once approved.
Most visa-exempt countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and many European nations, require travelers to obtain an eTA before flying to Canada.
Applying for an eTA is quick and straightforward. Follow these simple steps:
*1 Overseas Territories: Travelers from certain overseas territories may have different entry requirements.
*2 United Kingdom: Only travelers who are re-admissible to the UK are eligible.
*3 Falkland Islands (Malvinas): Eligible under British Overseas Territory citizenship.
*4 Hong Kong: Must hold a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) passport, issued by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
*5 Israel: Only travelers with a national Israeli passport are eligible.
*6 Romania: Electronic Passports Only – Entry permitted only for travelers holding biometric (electronic) passports.
*7 Taiwan: Must hold an ordinary passport issued by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which includes a personal identification number.
*8 Vatican City: Must present a passport or travel document issued by the Vatican.
